GIMS, born Gandhi Djuna and formerly known as Maître Gims, is a Congolese-French singer, rapper and songwriter originating from Kinshasa and based in France, active from the mid-2000s to the present. He first gained prominence as a member of the French rap collective Sexion d'Assaut before establishing a solo career that blends French rap, pop, R&B and Afrobeat influences. Known for a powerful baritone voice and melodic delivery, his music often combines sung choruses with rap verses and polished, radio-friendly production; themes in his work include personal identity, relationships and urban life.
