GRECAS
Grecas is a Brazilian instrumental ensemble and guitar duo formed in the late 1970s, known for blending elements of Brazilian popular music with jazz, bossa nova and acoustic guitar traditions. Originating from São Paulo, the group features intertwined nylon-string guitar arrangements, emphasizing melodic interplay, sophisticated harmonies and rhythmic subtlety typical of MPB-influenced chamber jazz. Their work is characterized by intimate, acoustic textures, tasteful improvisation and arrangements that draw on both Brazilian songforms and modern jazz sensibilities. Grecas recorded and performed primarily during the late 20th century, contributing to Brazil’s instrumental guitar repertoire.
