Los Huayra

Los Huayra is a Bolivian musical ensemble formed in the 1990s, known for performing traditional Andean folk music with contemporary arrangements. Originating from Bolivia, the group blends indigenous instruments such as zampoñas (panpipes), charangos and quenas with modern instrumentation and harmonies, producing melodic interpretations of regional genres including huayño, saya and airecito. Their repertoire emphasizes instrumental virtuosity and ensemble interplay, often presenting danceable rhythms and lyrical, melodic lines characteristic of highland Andean traditions. Over several decades the band has become one of the more prominent exponents of Bolivian folk music on both domestic and international stages, fostering broader appreciation of Andean musical forms.
