ARASHI

Arashi is a Japanese pop (J-pop) boy band formed in Tokyo in 1999 and managed by the talent agency Johnny & Associates. The five-member group—Masaki Aiba, Jun Matsumoto, Kazunari Ninomiya, Satoshi Ohno and Sho Sakurai—became one of Japan’s most prominent entertainment acts, known for a repertoire that spans upbeat pop, ballads and dance-oriented tracks, often incorporating elements of R&B and electronic production. Active in recording, television, film and live performance, Arashi built a public image blending polished choreography, variety-show personalities and theme songs for dramas and commercials. The group announced a hiatus beginning in 2020 after two decades of commercial success and high visibility in Japanese popular culture.
