The Ronettes

The Ronettes were an American vocal girl group from the New York City area, best known for their work in the early to mid-1960s. Formed around 1960, the trio—led by Veronica "Ronnie" Bennett—specialized in pop and R&B with strong influences from doo-wop and the emerging "wall of sound" production style. Their recordings are characterized by lush, layered arrangements, prominent percussion, and dramatic, emotive lead vocals supported by tight harmonies. The Ronettes achieved mainstream commercial success with several hit singles and are widely regarded as influential in the development of girl-group pop and early rock and roll vocal styling.
