Amitabh Bachchan, Harivansh Rai Bachchan
Amitabh Bachchan and Harivansh Rai Bachchan represent two distinct figures linked by family and cultural imprint rather than a conventional musical act. Harivansh Rai Bachchan (1907–2003) was an Indian Hindi-language poet whose recitations of his own work, written in a lyrical, romantic-modernist style influenced by Urdu and Hindi traditions, became widely celebrated; his poetry has been set to music and recited at cultural events across the Hindi-speaking world. His son, Amitabh Bachchan (born 1942), is a prominent Indian film actor and public figure who has frequently performed spoken-word recitations and sung a limited number of film songs in Hindi cinema; his baritone voice and dramatic delivery have been used in film soundtracks, public recordings and stage performances. Both figures are associated with North Indian cultural and literary traditions and with mid-20th century to contemporary Indian popular and literary arts.
