Phyno, Flavour

Phyno and Flavour are prominent Nigerian musicians known for their contributions to contemporary Igbo-inflected popular music. Phyno, from Anambra State, rose to prominence in the early 2010s as a rapper, songwriter and record producer who often performs in Igbo and English, blending hip hop, highlife rhythms and Afrobeat influences with lyrical focus on local identity and street narratives. Flavour N'abania (Flavour), from Enugu State, is a singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist associated with modern highlife and Afro-pop; since the late 2000s he has been known for melodic vocals, use of traditional highlife instrumentation and songs that fuse contemporary production with West African dance and love-song traditions. Both artists have been influential in bringing regional language and highlife elements into mainstream Nigerian popular music.
