Gustavo Cerati was an Argentine singer, songwriter, composer and record producer, best known as the frontman and principal creative force of the influential rock band Soda Stereo before pursuing a solo career. Originating from Buenos Aires, his work spans rock en español, pop rock, new wave and alternative rock, often incorporating electronic textures and experimental production. Active from the early 1980s until his stroke in 2010, Cerati's music is characterized by melodic songwriting, atmospheric guitar work, layered arrangements and a focus on sonic exploration and lyrical imagery. He is widely regarded for shaping contemporary Latin American rock and for his contributions as a solo artist and collaborator.
