Die Prinzen

Die Prinzen are a German pop and a cappella group formed in Leipzig in the early 1990s, known for their harmonically rich vocal arrangements, satirical lyrics and blend of pop, rock and choral influences. Emerging from members with backgrounds in East German choirs and the Thomasschule tradition, they achieved popularity in the German-speaking world with catchy melodies, close four-part harmonies and often humorous or socially observant texts. Their repertoire combines original songs and arrangements that emphasize vocal interplay and clear, accessible production, frequently incorporating orchestral or band accompaniment alongside unaccompanied vocal passages. Active from the 1990s onward, Die Prinzen have been associated with mainstream German pop culture while maintaining a distinctive emphasis on vocal technique and clever songwriting.
