Foo Fighters is an American rock band formed in Seattle in 1994, led by singer, guitarist and songwriter Dave Grohl. Emerging from the post-grunge era, their music draws on alternative rock and hard rock traditions, often combining melodic hooks with driving guitar riffs and dynamic arrangements. Originally conceived as Grohl’s solo project after the end of his previous band, Foo Fighters evolved into a full band and became known for energetic, anthemic songs, layered production, and a balance of heavier rock tracks with more accessible, radio-friendly material.
